Patent Families Defined (hide this help)
Patent applications as well as granted patents can be insured under PatentEnforcerTM, provided that the patent application or granted patent was first filed in either the Danish Patent and Trade Mark Office (DKPTO), the European Patent Office (EPO) or the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO). All international equivalents are eligible under the scheme and considered as one family, although Continuations in Part and Divisional patents should be considered as separate families. If your initial country or office of filing is not the DKPTO, the EPO or WIPO, then you should contact Dahlberg.
For the avoidance of doubt, the insurance is available to owners of existing patents and patents applications as well as new or current filings.
Help
We need to understand details of the lead patent in each patent family. We consider the lead patent to be the first patent filed in the current family before international equivalents are filed. So if you filed first in the Danish Patent & Trademark Office, use the current application number (if not yet granted in Denmark) or the Patent Number if Granted in Denmark. Select whether the patent is still pending what office it was filed in
If you filed the patent into the WIPO office and the patent has now progressed into the national phase (it is beyond the 18 month protection period) then state the most relevant Danish Patent and Trademark office number or European Patent Office number. If neither applies, then you should contact Dahlberg.
If you made an initial application, then withdrew it and refiled under a new number, we are only interested in the new number as the earlier filing should have lapsed.
If you have any further queries, please contact Dahlberg.
